Sachin Tendulkar’s dream home comes true

On the first day of Navratri, Sachin Tendulkar has moved into his new home in Bandra — a five-storeyed bungalow at 19-A, Perry Cross Street. It has reportedly cost the world’s richest cricketer a whopping Rs 39 crore (about $7.9 million at today’s prices).

The ‘dream house’ has been designed keeping in mind the master blasters love for cars.

It is said that the second basement of the house can hold 45-50 cars at a time. The first basement includes the kitchen, master surveillance room and servant quarters.

The house has three other floors where Tendulkar will live along with his wife and two kids.

The ground floor comprises of large drawing room with a separate dining space for the entire family and a temple of Lord Ganesha on the ground floor premises.

The floor will also house a special display area where Sachin’s innumerable medals and trophies will be kept.

Also there is a swimming pool on the roof.

Earlier, UFO Moviez’s Club X presented their membership to Tendulkar after India’s World Cup win and are setting up a mini-theatre for the legendary batsman.

UFO Moviez Club X brings the first day first show of any movie from cinema halls to homes through their digital servers. Ameya Hete, who is also a close friend of Tendulkar and an integral part of UFO is currently setting up a mini-theatre at the cricket legend’s home.

The members of this exclusive club are from the corporate world, socio-political sector and the Indian film fraternity such as Mukesh Ambani, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ajay Devgn.

“Sachin’s theatre will be the best even amongst the Club X members because it will be able to house the entire cricket team (should the legend decide to extend an invitation) and even the management. It will have a minimum of 23-25 seats and is being equipped with the best sound system. One hears that work came to a slight standstill because Sachin was away in England for the Test season,” a source was quoted by Times of India.

'Tiger' Pataudi laid to rest at ancestral palace

Former Indian cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, who died of a lung ailment in Delhi on Thursday, was laid to rest at his ancestral palace in Pataudi, Haryana on Friday with thousands thronging the burial site to pay their last respects leading to chaotic scenes.

Pataudi, who was 70 when he breathed his last at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, was buried next to the grave of his father, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi -- the last ruling Nawab of Bhopal.

As distraught family members, bid final goodbye to the man who was fondly called 'Tiger', there was chaos at the Pataudi Palace's sprawling campus with close to 15,000 people converging at the burial site to catch a glimpse of the proceedings.

The huge police presence was hardly a deterrent as media and the gathered crowd jostled to be the closest to the grave even as the Pataudi family grieved in silence.

Pataudi's wife, yesteryears' Bollywood star Sharmila Tagore, looked calm and composed when she came on the palace balcony once along with ther female family members.

Pataudi's son Saif Ali Khan, also a Bollywood actor, performed the last rites after offering Friday prayers. Saif's actress girlfriend Kareena Kapoor looked distraught along with Pataudi's daughters Soha and Saba, both of whom were inconsolable.

Kareena's elder sister and Bollywood actress Karisma also attended the funeral and was seen consoling Saif.

From the cricketing fraternity, former captain Kapil Dev and Ajay Jadeja came with the family from Delhi this morning when Pataudi's body was brought at Pataudi, Haryana.

Also present was former captain and Coach Anshuman Gaekwad along with santoor maestro Amjad Ali Khan.

6-ton satellite hits Earth; location unknown: NASA

NASA says a defunct 6-ton satellite has fallen from the sky, the agency posted on its official Twitter site that the spacecraft crashed through the atmosphere early Saturday.

A location was not immediately known. Most of it was believed to have burned up.

The Upper Atmospheric Research Satellite was NASA's biggest spacecraft to tumble out of orbit, uncontrolled, in 32 years.

UARS was launched aboard space shuttle Discovery in 1991. NASA decommissioned the satellite in 2005, after moving it into a lower orbit that cut its life short by two decades.

Bits of space junk re-enter the atmosphere virtually every day. No injuries have ever been reported from it.

Somdev receives Arjuna Award

Indian tennis ace Somdev Devvarman, who had struck a golden double last year by finishing on top in both the Commonwealth and Asian Games singles events, on Tuesday received Arjuna Award from Sports Minister Ajay Maken.

Currently ranked 70 in the world, Somdev had won gold medals in men's singles at both the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China last year.

He also teamed up with Sanam Singh to bag another gold medal for India in the men's doubles event at the Asian Games.

Easy Ways to Increase your Adsense Revenue

How much revenue do you generate from Google Adsense?

Recently there has been a lot of discussion about people who earn over $10,000 a month just from Adsense. Furthermore, there are rumors of a few individuals who earn over $1 million a year just from using the power of Google advertisements.

So what is Google Adsense and how can you use this program to earn a six-figure income?

About two years ago, Google created this program to help websites to monetize their web-traffic.

Here's how it works:

Webmasters obtain a special code from Google which then displays targeted ads on their website. Whenever a visitor clicks on one of these ads, the webmaster earns a commission. Unlike other online businesses, there is no selling involved. All you need to do is get people to click on the ads.

Although this is an excellent way to generate an income, many websites are not effectively maximizing their Adsense potential. As a result, they are leaving a lot of cash on the table.

The question is how can you increase your Adsense revenue without increasing the number of web visitors?

The key to earning an income with Google Adsense is to have your ads match the rest of the site, making them look like part of your content. Your focus is to avoid having the Adsense blocks look like blatant advertisements.

The following are six ways that you can do this and increase your revenue at the same time:

1) Find the right place- Most website visitors read content that is in the middle of a webpage. As a result, the best place to put your Adsense block is in the top part of the page, at the beginning of your web content. You want to weave the Google Ads into your web content to give the appearance that they are extra links which expand on the information of the page.

2) Use the Large Rectangle-With Google Adsense, you have the option of picking different ad formats. Most of the time people opt to use the Leaderboard (728x90) or Wide Skyscraper (160x600) style ads. Unfortunately, this is the wrong choice, because both look like blatant advertisements. Instead smart webmasters have found that using the Large Rectangle (336x280) yields the best amount of click-thrus.

3) Ditch the border- Many people experience a sharp increase in Adsense revenue when they changing their border. What they change is very simple…they get rid of the border on their Adsense blocks. This is another way to make the advertisements look like useful web content.

4) Adapt the font- Whenever you write content, it should be the same font size and style as your Google Adsense block. This will help make it appear that the advertisements are a natural part of your website.

5) Match the colors- In addition to changing the fonts, you also should match the colors of your website. For instance, if your content is written in black, and your hyperlinks are blue, then the Adsense blocks should also be the same color. Again, this helps the advertisements appear to be normal web content.

6) Don't have too many distractions- On a webpage, it is important to give web visitor a limited number of options. By having too many links and graphics, the web visitor might go to a section that doesn't help increase your profits. While it is important to inform and entertain your web visitor, it is also vital that you monetize your site. So if the main focus of your site is to earn an income through Google Adsense, then get rid of all non-essential links and graphics.

By taking the time to implement these six simple steps, you'll see a dramatic increase in the click-thru ratio of your ads. If added to all of the content of your site, your Adsense income will skyrocket!

Google AdSense: 7 Tips For Creating Sites That Make Money

Having a Google AdSense site is a great way to make money. And to create an AdSense site, all you have to do is have a Google AdSense account (which is free), a website or a blog (which is free), and some articles (which are free if you write them yourself). Once you get your site up and running, the AdSense ads will be targeted to your content.

Therefore, those looking for your content will come by, read your articles, and have a high probability of being interested in the targeted ads. Every time someone clicks an ad, you get paid! That is, as long as you have designed your site to maximize AdSense clickthroughs!

Let's look at seven tips for creating AdSense sites that create money.

#1: Keyword Density

Before you place ads on your site, be sure your keyword density is good. You will want to be sure that the right kinds of ads are placed on your site. A free way to determine what the ads will look like on your site is to go to http://www.resultsgenerator.com/adsense/ and type in your keywords. You will then be able to see exactly what ads would show on your site.

If you don't like what you see, then you know that you need to make changes to your keywords! You can get keyword suggestions from Results Generator from Overture or from the free trial version of Word Tracker.

#2: Focused

Not only will the ads be based on your keywords, but they will also be based on your content. You definitely want your keywords and your content to match as closely as possible.

#3: Write Often

The more information you have the better. Why? Because the more content you have, the more visitors you get. Many people suggest that you write a new article every day since no one wants to come back to your site to find the same old messages!

#4: Choose The Right Format

AdSense allows you to choose many different ad formats. Research has shown that wider ads are more successful. The top three formats are:

" 336x280 large rectangle
" 300x250 medium rectangle
" 160x600 wide skyscraper

Additionally, the 468x15 horizontal ad link under the navigation bar is also a good bet.

#5: Color Counts

You have the option to create a Google AdSense ad in any color of your choice. The best thing to do is to make your ad blend well with your site color scheme. You should make the border color and the background color the same color as your web site. You will want your text color to either be black or the color of your main content.

When creating your Google AdSense ads it is recommended to use the color scheme and style of your website so that the ads blend in well. Ads without background color and borders perfom better than ads within borders with background color.

#6: Position Counts, Too

It is well known that visitors to a website scan the site to determine if it is worth reading. You definitely want them to see and scan your AdSense ads. Therefore, the best place to put them is in the top left part of your page or directly under your headlines.

#7: Increase The Number

AdSense allows you to use up to three AdSense units on a page, two AdSense search boxes, and one unit of ad links. Using all that you can increases the chances of earning money.

Keep these seven tips in mind when creating your AdSense site and you will find that your clickthrough rates increase, thus increasing your money making potential.

Tata Pixel city car concept

The Tata Pixel, with ‘Zero Turn’ drive and an innovative diamond-shaped door system, is a city car concept for Europe from Tata Motors.

Based on the Tata Nano, the Pixel – at just over three metres in length – is the most package efficient four-seater in the world, comfortably accommodating four adults, unlike a typical city car which is either a two-seater or can accommodate two adults and two children only.

The Tata Pixel’s ability to maneuver and park in the tightest of spaces is made possible by its Zero Turn toroidal traction-drive Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT).

This highly efficient, cost-effective system assists rotation of the outer rear wheel forwards and the inner rear wheel backwards during low-speed manoeuvres, while the front wheels turn at acute angles. The result is a turning circle radius of just 2.6 metres. The glass area on the scissor doors provides excellent visibility even in the most extreme turning manoeuvre.

The Tata Pixel also introduces “My Tata Connect” -- the first integrated human-machine interface (HMI) concept from Tata Motors for its new generation programmes.

“My Tata Connect” enables seamless integration of the user’s smartphone or tablet with the vehicle’s infotainment system and also allows controlling key functions of the car.

With optimised aerodynamic drag, low rolling-resistance tyres, stop-start technology, and intelligent battery charging, the Tata Pixel returns European combined cycle (NEDC) fuel economy of 3.4 l/100km and CO2 emissions of just 89g/km.

In addition to serving as the infotainment display when docked in the instrument panel, the tablet also allows temperature, ventilation and air-conditioning settings to be adjusted through its touch screen, as well as displaying information on the vehicle's performance.

A 1.2 litre three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, positioned at the rear of the Tata Pixel, gives lively performance.

The 'scissor' doors rotate upwards from the front to allow all four passengers to effortlessly enter or exit the Tata Pixel, even in the tightest of spaces, while the doors' large glass area provides excellent visibility.

A forward sweeping roofline, with minimal front and rear overhangs, accentuates the youthful styling, while the window graphic features an interchangeable island that can be used to change the exterior appearance whenever desired.

The engine is a low-friction design, featuring variable coolant and oil pump and rapid warm-up technologies.

Try New Gmail Inbox Styles

Google has released priority inbox for their Gmail services a year back which did not help many to manage their inbox properly. Now they have added multiple Inbox styles for the users to select the best one suiting their needs.

A new Inbox styles bar has been added to the Gmail UI.

Following options are available on the bar:

Classic

This is the default inbox style. All mails are displayed in the chronological order of their arrival i.e. most recent mails at the top of your inbox

Important first

All your important mails will be listed at the top. Importance in terms of people you are interacting with the most i.e. Top spot is given to mails from people you are communicating with.

Unread first

As the names goes, all your unread mails at the top and rest follow.

Starred first

As the name goes, all your starred mails at the top in chronological order and rest follow.

Priority Inbox

That’s the old style i.e. Unread, important and starred mails are displayed in order and then rest follow.

From last couple of months I was looking for Unread emails in my Gmail inbox but couldn’t find it and it was extremely painful to go to archives just to see what all are unread . But now this is extremely easy.

You can close the bar if you don’t like it or is annoying you.

You can also change the Inbox style using the down arrow button on right of the Inbox hyperlink as in the screenshot below:

Blast outside Delhi HC, 11 killed, 64 injured

Terror struck the Capital when a powerful bomb placed in a briefcase ripped through a crowded reception area at the entrance to the High Court this morning killing 11 people and leaving 64 injured.

The "high intensity" bomb blast outside the High Court compound between Gate No. 4 and 5 occured at 10.14 AM when 100 to 200 litigants were waiting to get passes to enter the premises. Some lawyers were also present at that time.

Home Minister P Chidambaram said the blast was of "high intensity" and called it a "terrorist attack". The blast also left a 3-4 feet crater at the site of the explosion.

Chidambaram said it was not possible to identify the group behind the attack. It was for the second time in less than four months that the Delhi High Court was targeted. No one was injured in the previous explosion on May 25.

Union Home Ministry sources said the death toll has risen to 11. Sixty-five persons were injured out of whom 15 are in a serious condition.

The probe into the blast was handed over by Government to the National Investigation Agency(NIA) whose Chief S C Sinha said a 20-member team headed by a DIG has been formed.

A TV channel said it had received a mail purportedly written by Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami(HuJI).

Sinha felt it was too premature to comment on HuJI mail but said NIA was looking at it seriously because the outfit is a very prominent terrorist group which considers India as target number one.He said there were no clear leads as of now.

Lawyers and litigants with blood soaked clothes ran helter-skelter and chaos broke out after the deafening explosion in the heart of the Capital which could be heard even one km away. Some complained of hearing loss.

Broken limbs and pieces of flesh were strewn on the ground along with shards of glass.

An eyewtiness suggested that the bomber may have queued up at the reception gate for entry passes and left the briefcase in which the bomb was hidden.

Court proceedings were suspended for a while before they were resumed.

Union Home Secretary R K Singh said the bomb had all the makings of an Improvised Explosive Device(IED) set up by a terror group.

Singh said the bomb was kept in a suitcase since some of its remains were still in it.

After the bomb blast, panic-stricken people ran helter-skelter as it was chaos at the High Court premises. "I was just 10 metres from the site of the blast," said Rahul Gupta, a litigant, who was at the reception counter

"I saw a lot of people lying around in a pool of blood," he added.

The injured were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia(RML) Safdarjung and AIIMS hospitals.

Doctors at RML said most of the splinter injuries sustained were below the waist level. Some persons also sustained burn injuries.

Delhi to have world-class institute on climate change

Delhi will soon have a world-class institute that will impart training to people and chalk out strategies to curb the effects of climate change, CM Sheila Dikshit said.

Replying to a short duration discussion on environment in New Delhi on Thursday, Dikshit said her government has decided to set up Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Combating Climate Change at Bakauli spread over an area of 18 acres.

"The institute will come up in the campus of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Integrated Rural Energy Planning and Development which is presently under utilised," she said.

Noting that multi-pronged strategies are needed to control pollution in the city which has 65 lakhs vehicles, she said her government was also looking for a technology to generate energy from the waste.

"The number of vehicles is much more than number of total vehicles in other metro cities together," she said.

Around 8,000 metric tonne garbage is being generated in Delhi on daily basis, she said.

To control air pollution in Delhi, air ambience fund has been created by imposing a fee of Rs 0.25 per litre of diesel sale in Delhi, she added.

For promotion of vehicles operated with clean fuel, the government is giving subsidy to battery operated vehicles from air ambience fund, sandeep said.
